Renewable Energy Opportunities

Invest in the Mudgee Region

A Hub for Renewable Energy Growth

The Mudgee Region, located in the heart of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO-REZ), is a prime destination for businesses, investors, and job seekers looking to be part of the clean energy future. As Australia’s first designated Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), this initiative is driving economic growth, job creation, and sustainable investment in our region.

About the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone

The CWO-REZ is Australia’s first officially declared REZ, covering approximately 20,000 square kilometres. It is expected to generate around 6 gigawatts of renewable energy, powering more than 3 million homes and attracting billions of dollars in investment. The REZ will connect large-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects to the grid, providing long-term economic benefits for regional communities, including the Mudgee Region.

For more details on upcoming projects and investment opportunities, visit the NSW Government’s Central West Orana REZ page.

One of the projects is the Central-West Orana Transmission Project which involves building transmission infrastructure (i.e. transmission lines) to enable generators such as solar and wind farms in the REZ to connect to the NSW electricity grid. For more details visit the NSW EnergyCo page.
